Winter has already arrived and it's time to make the necessary dietary and lifestyle changes to cope with cold weather in a healthy way. We suggest you some hot drinks that will keep you warm and make you feel good on cold winter evenings.

Most of them are rich in antioxidants, natural substances that prevent or delay some types of cell damage. Therefore, in addition to keeping you warm, they are also healthy drinks that will boost your immune system and help you deal with winter colds.

1. Ginger tea

Ginger helps with digestion, relieves stomach pain and nausea. To make a ginger tea, grate or slice it into a cup and pour boiling water into it. Then wait about 5 or 10 minutes and strain it before drinking.

2. Fruits tea

There is a wide variety of marketed infusions that combine different types of fruit, such as apples or red fruits, which are high in antioxidants. We suggest you choose combinations that don’t have added sugar. If you need a sweeter touch, add a little honey.

3. Green tea

It is rich in antioxidants, which come from polyphenols or tannins, which boost the immune system. This tea contains theine, since it is made from the same plant as black tea. Therefore, be careful if you drink it at night because it can cause insomnia.

4. Mint tea

You can buy it in bags, loose-leaf or make it yourself using fresh mint. It improves digestion, cold symptoms, and minor respiratory problems.

5. Chai tea

This tea is made from black tea and other aromatic spices, usually from India. Its flavor can be quite strong for those who are not used to it; so that it doesn’t taste so strong, you can add a little milk.

6. Coffee

Winter evenings can be more pleasant with a good cup of hot coffee with cinnamon or cocoa. To prevent insomnia, choose from a wide variety of decaffeinated coffee types that keep all the aroma and properties of coffee.

7. Hot chocolate

A cup of hot chocolate improves your mood, is good for your cardiovascular health and helps you relax. To make a good hot chocolate, use one that contains at least 70% of cocoa. Those with a lower percentage usually have a lot of added sugar and saturated fat, providing extra calories.

8. Hot lemon water

Although cold lemonade is more popular, lemon juice with hot water is a perfect drink for winter evenings. Be careful not to add too much lemon, as the acidity can damage tooth enamel.

9. Vegetable and/or meat broths

A good broth invigorates anyone on cold days. You can make a veggie version or combine vegetables and different types of meat. A good idea is to make large quantities of broth and freeze it in portions, then defrost and drink it whenever want.
