We’ve all met them: the intransigent and intolerant people who seem to think their views are the only ones that matter. They’re often stubborn and close-minded, and can be difficult to deal with. But with a little patience and understanding, it is possible to cope with them.

The first step is to understand why they are behaving this way. Intransigent and intolerant people often feel like they are right and everyone else is wrong. This is their way of protecting themselves from feeling exposed or uncomfortable. As a result, they can be very defensive and unwilling to compromise.

The best way to approach these people is to be calm and patient. Show them that you respect their opinion, even if you don’t agree with it. This will help them to open up and see that there can be more than one way to look at a situation.

You must avoid getting into a heated argument. Raising your voice or being confrontational will only make the situation worse. Instead, try to focus on the facts and be logical.

If the other person is being aggressive or rude, stay calm and don’t get drawn into an argument. This can be difficult, especially if you are feeling angry or frustrated. However, it is important to remain calm and try to be as civil as possible. This will help to de-escalate the situation and make it easier to have a constructive conversation.

It is important to realize that not everyone is going to agree with you and that it is okay to disagree. This means that it is important to be willing to accept that the other person may not change their views, even if you make a strong argument. In these cases, be respectful and accept that it may not be possible to come to an agreement.

Finally, don’t take it personally. Intransigent and intolerant people are not necessarily trying to be mean. They’re simply protecting themselves from feeling exposed or embarrassed. So, try to be understanding and remember that everyone has their own way of dealing with things.

How to recognize intolerant people
